Alpin Family (Part of InLeisure) Acquires Hospitality Bros to Drive Further Growth and Expand Portfolio

August 21, 2024

The Austrian hotel group Alpin Family has expanded its offerings by acquiring the renowned Hospitality Bros from Saalfelden. This acquisition adds several new properties in Austria, including the Triforêt Alpin Resort in Hinterstoder, to Alpin Family's portfolio. This strategic move strengthens the group’s leadership in the local market and offers even more diverse vacation experiences in Austria. Alpin Family is among the leading vacation specialists in Austria's mountainous regions, providing a wide range of accommodations and services tailored to meet the diverse needs of travellers. The addition of Hospitality Bros' properties ideally complements Alpin Family’s existing portfolio, particularly in the premium and luxury hotel segments.

Together, the two companies now manage over 3,000 beds across ten destinations and employ a team of more than 400 people. Patrick Müller, a key figure at Hospitality Bros, emphasises the human element of this partnership: “Our goal is to build long-term relationships with our guests and employees, creating a community of like-minded individuals. We pay attention to every detail and maintain high standards to ensure a unique experience.”

Ralph van Kollenburg, founder and CEO of Alpin Family, adds: “We are delighted to welcome Hospitality Bros into the Alpin Family. This integration marks a significant milestone on our journey to offer unparalleled vacation experiences in the Austrian Alps.”

The Next Generation of Austrian Hotels. Over the next decade, nearly half of Austria’s hotels are expected to transition to the next generation, but not all will succeed. The transition of family-run businesses to the next generation is becoming increasingly challenging. This is where the expertise of Hospitality Bros comes into play. They specialise in integrating businesses into existing groups and taking over tasks that can be centralised, such as accounting, controlling, marketing, and sales & revenue management. Austria’s family-run hotels are the backbone of Western tourism, and the specially developed onboarding program by Hospitality Bros offers a valuable solution for businesses without a clear succession plan.

With this merger, Alpin Family's leadership team, led by Ralph van Kollenburg, will also expand. Christoph Mazur, a long-time member of Alpin Family, will lead the main office in Kaprun and, together with Benedikt Roos, will oversee the operational management of the hotels and resorts. Paul Simpson and Patrick Müller will jointly manage the Sales & Commercial Department, with Müller also responsible for the group’s expansion. Michael Plamenig will lead product development and operations in Upper Austria, while Brigita Pelagic and Hartmuth Schmidinger will manage the finance department in Kaprun and Vienna, where a new office is set to open this fall.

The transaction was legally supported by Mag. Arabella Eichinger and Mag. Roman Jatzko of Barnert Egermann Illigasch Attorneys, as well as Mag. Stephan Gappmaier and Dr. Harald Kronberger of Zumtobel Attorneys.

Our Latest Addition…The TRIFORÊT Alpin Resort, an outstanding retreat in the Austrian Alps, is situated at an altitude of 1,400 meters in the picturesque region of Hinterstoder, Upper Austria. Guests can experience a perfect blend of nature, wellness, gourmet delights, and tranquility in the main house’s apartments and the freestanding, iconic chalets.
